The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) has called on the Federal Government to facilitate the establishment of a building development board, which will coordinate and promote the development of industry standards, productivity measures and strengthen the relationship among stakeholders in the construction industry.
In a communiqué issued on its just concluded 43rd Annual General Meeting held in Abuja, NIOB said it was the responsibility of the government to establish the board, which it noted could stimulate sustainable growth reforms and improvement of the sector for effective service delivery.
FG to build 105 houses in seven states
In another development, the Federal Government of Nigeria has said it has concluded plans to commence the construction of 105 housing units in seven pilot states across the country under its ministerial housing scheme.
The Chairman, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Olabisi Ogunjobi, gave the hint in Akure, Ondo State, after a courtesy call by the management of the bank on the State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.
