In contrast to the losses made in their previous session, the Nigerian equity market ended their session positively on Tuesday, April 15, 2014.
The all share index sealed at 39,203.29 basis point increasing by 0.47% from the previous basis point of 39,020.67.
Meanwhile, the market capitalization of the listed equities also increased from the Monday’s closing figure at N12.846tn to N12.910tn with an increase of N64bn.
The best performance of the sectoral indices was the NSE Banking Index which rose by 1.54% while the NSE Insurance Index which fell by 0.31% was the worst performance for the day.
Valued at 1.295bn, 94.619milion shares were traded in 1,671deals in the subsector and the banking subsector topped the activity chart accounting for 34% of total turnover trade.
Generally, investors exchanged 277.686 million shares worth N3.489bn in 4,792 deals with 17 stocks recording price appreciation, while 20 equities recorded price depreciation.
