The Chairman, Kano State Community Reorientation Committee, Ya’u Yan-China, says the State Government would empower more than 2,000 youths in 2016.
The chairman made this known on Wednesday when he appeared before the State House of Assembly to defend the budget estimate for the committee in the 2016 appropriation bill.
Yan-China said this is budgeted for in the 2016 fiscal policy.
``The empowerment programme will include the training of youths and women in different skills acquisition to make them self-reliant and will be extended to people with disabilities in the state as we have trained over 500 youths in different vocations.
``These trainings were conducted in collaboration with the state’s Ministry of Commerce and the Central Bank of Nigeria.
``After the training, the beneficiaries will be provided with the capital to establish their own businesses to be independent,’’ he said.
He said that the committee was planning to open other offices across the 44 Local government areas in the state to ensure that rural people were not left behind in delivering democracy dividends.
