Petty traders at various polling units in Karu Ward, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Saturday engaged in buying and selling polling units in defiance to the warning by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Correspondent who went round the units reports that the traders, who were busy attending to customers without apprehension from law enforcement agents, denied knowledge of the warning.
At Polling Unit 011, one Mrs Asabe Dauda, a food vendor said she was not aware of the instruction.
According to her, “nobody has asked me to stop selling and voters are patronising me.”
At same venue, one Kabiru Sani, who was seen frying yam was all smiles as voters patronised him.
He stated that he was at his duty post and was not aware of any instruction from INEC. He expressed joy, saying, he had made more sales than other days.
Also, at Polling Units 004, 009 and 010 sachet water vendors were seen among other hawkers selling their products.
Further reports that though the vendors were seen selling, there was no evidence of vote buying.
